Driver hits cyclist

A driver failed to yield to a pack of bicyclists and resulted in several bikes to crash into each other, $5000 in damages to the driver’s car, and even sent one rider to the hospital with severe injuries.

The driver, 60-year-old Evelyn Steadman of Lauderdale Lakes, was driving along North County Lane when she signaled to make a left turn. As she turned onto South Woods Road, rather than yielding to a group of cyclists, she turned into them. One cyclist, a 56-year-old male, was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance with traumatic injuries though he was wearing a helmet. He is reportedly in stable condition and currently remains in the intensive care unit.

Cycling is fun, economical, and great exercise. Unfortunately, some drivers do not take the proper precautions that are necessary to keep road cyclists safe. While a helmet may have saved the victim’s life, he was still seriously hurt. If you have been injured while cycling due to a negligent driver, call Palm Beach County Florida personal injury attorneys at Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller & Overbeck, P.A. at (561) 689-8180 to start building a case to fight for financial compensation.
