Thousands of defective food and bottle warmers recalled

A Massachusetts-based company is recalling 255,000 electric food and bottle warmers sold in the U.S. because they can overheat and cause fire risks, which may result in injury or property damage, a June 21 article of cpsc.gov reported.

According to reports, the “Tommee Tippee”electronic food and bottle warmers of Mayborn USA Inc., can cause property damage or burn injuries to consumers if they emit too much heat or catch fire. The affected product is sold individually and included in product sets. Though Mayborn USA and the CPSC are not aware of any injuries caused by the products, the defective electronic warmers were linked to six incidents of catching fire, melting, and overheating that resulted in property damage worth $16,000. Consumers were warned to stop using the product and to contact Mayborn to receive a new replacement for free.
