The Truth About the Dangers of Yaz and Yasmin
In 2001, Yasmin was approved by the FDA and introduced to the American public for birth control and for the treatment of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, or PMDD. Then, in 2006, Yaz was approved by the FDA with the same promises by the same manufacturer, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
These oral contraceptives have become the top-selling brand of birth control in the U.S. since that time and have generated quite an income for Bayer. Unfortunately, there have been numerous life-threatening side effects linked to these drugs, such as: headaches, depression, mood swings, a disruption in normal menstrual patterns, fatigue and endometriosis. And those were not the worst side effects reported! There have been increased reports of deep vein thrombosis, hypertension, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, heart attack, stroke and even death that have been associated with the use of these drugs.
The FDA has issued many warnings to Bayer regarding misleading television advertisements promoting Yaz, and in 2008 issued a safety alert about the serious risks associated with the use of Yaz/Yasmin.
As a result of the increased risks of serious health problems caused by Yaz/Yasmin, a class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the many women who have suffered significant medical problems from taking these medications. The skilled and experienced attorneys at Schuler, Halvorson and Weisser, P.A. are here to advise you regarding your options to obtain the compensation you deserve if you or a loved one has suffered from using these drugs.
