19-Year Old, Geovanni Balverdy, Dead After Friend Crashes Sports Car In St. Lucie County
A teen swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed his sports car killing his friend who was sitting in the passenger seat, police said.
The 19-year-old driver was on River Park and Fort Pierce Drive in St. Lucie County when the Nissan 350Z crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Kia Spectra with two people inside, Florida Highway Patrol Officials said.
The driver of that vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, was with a 21-year-old man and they both suffered minor injuries, Florida Highway Patrol Officials said.
The passenger of the Nissan, 19, was rushed to a hospital in St. Lucie County where he died, authorities said.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was listed in stable condition at the same hospital.
Police believe speed was a factor, but it wasn’t immediately clear how fast he was going, sources said. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
The accident is still under investigation. The driver of the Nissan has not been charged with a crime and has been issued no violations at this time, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
