29-Year-Old Port St. Lucie Principal Struck And Critically Injured By Vehicle

The Principal of a high school in St. Lucie County is out of surgery and stable after being struck by a sport-utility vehicle that had driven onto a baseball field.

The 29-year-old Principal was rushed to Lakewood Park Regional Hospital in critical condition after she was struck by the car at River Park in the 11200 block of Southwest 24th St.

Police officials at Port St. Lucie Senior High School tweeted that the woman was “out of surgery and stable.” They asked for continued prayers for her recovery.

The St. Lucie County Schools superintendent also took to Twitter to offer well-wishes.

Counselors will be on campus to help staff and students cope with the tragedy.

She was reportedly coaching one of the teams when the SUV went through a fence and onto the field, hitting her before crashing into a light pole. Witnesses said she was pinned under the car.

Another man was also hit by the SUV but suffered minor injuries.

It’s unknown what caused the car to drive on the ball field. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and was being questioned by police.

The driver of the SUV has not been identified by police.
