3-Year-Old Survives Car Crash At SW Martin Intersection
A 3-year-old was among the injured passengers in a deadly collision at the intersection of SW Martin Highway with SW Berry Avenue.
Paramedics were on scene after a car crash left three people injured. A 3-year-old girl was among the injured along SW Martin Highway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a Honda Crosstour was traveling on SW Martin Highway when it crashed into a Blue Hyundai Santa Fe on the passenger’s side.
The driver of the Hyundai was approaching the intersection from the eastbound lane of SW Martin Highway. It turned towards the northbound lane of SW Berry Avenue when the crash occurred. The impact sent the car into the northwest segment of the intersection.
A 3-year-old girl was in the back seat of the Hyundai when the crash occurred. She survived the crash with minor injuries according to police reports. Authorities say she was well strapped in a car seat at the back of the SUV. The driver of the Hyundai sustained a few broken bones in the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Honda sustained head trauma in the crash. He was placed in an ambulance for transport to the hospital.
Police are investigating to determine if any of the cars ran a red light. Alcohol is not being considered as a factor in the crash. More information will be provided as investigations progress.
