31-Year-Old Boca Raton Man Kills Three And Left One Critical In Palm Beach Crash
A tractor trailer in Palm Beach Gardens veered off the road and struck a group of Boys Scouts and their chaperones who were picking up trash, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman told the post.
Three fourth-graders and one adult woman were killed, and a fourth boy remains in critical condition, reports the Florida Highway Patrol officials. Police say the driver fled but was later caught by the Palm Beach police department. He has been identified as a 31-year-old from Boca Raton, and he faces four counts of homicide through negligent use of a vehicle.
Florida Highway Patrol is not sure what caused the accident. They say the 31-year-old driver’s black Ford F-150 came over a hill, crossed a lane, swerved into a ditch, and struck the boys, who were wearing bright safety vests.
Although the crash still is still under investigation, the PBSO says it suspects the 31-year- old driver was under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, before swerving into the ditch.
Anyone with additional information relating to the car crash should contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
