31-Year-Old Lake Worth Woman Sentenced For Crash That Left Two Dead

A suburban Lake Worth woman has been sentenced to more than a year in state prison after she was convicted in a fatal crash that killed two of her passengers.

During a sentencing hearing, a Circuit Judge sentenced the 31-year-old to 16 months in prison, to be followed by 8 years of probation and 100 hours of community service. She was credited with 387 days of jail time already served.

She pleaded guilty to one count each of DUI manslaughter and driving without a license. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, she was driving a Ford F-350 pickup when she drove through a stop at a South Bay intersection and crashed into a school bus. The truck ended up in a nearby canal.

Her passengers, Parker Miles, 22, of West Palm Beach and Martin Clark, 18, of Boynton Beach both died at the scene. The 31-year-old sustained minor injuries. During the investigation immediately after the crash, deputies determined that he was impaired. They received a warrant to obtain a blood sample.

The driver of the school bus, who was the only occupant sustained minor scratches and injuries, according to FHP.

The sample was collected at Lakeside Medical Center in Belle Glade, where the 31-year-old was taken after the crash. According to the hospital staff, she had a blood-alcohol level of .233. Nearly three times the legal limit for intoxication in Florida, according to the sheriff’s office.
