Authorities say a 31-year-old was intoxicated when she crashed her white 2006 Mercedes-Benz C280 into a man crossing to the south side of the bridge on East Ocean Avenue.

The 47-year-old man was wearing an orange reflective vest, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. He died at the scene.

The 31-year-old was ordered to be held in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond. She cannot drive or drink alcohol as the case moves through the court system.

A woman who witnessed the wreck told FHP investigators that she saw the 31-year-old step out of her car and say “he just walked out in front of me.” Records indicate that the 31-year-old, who also has lived in Palm Beach, was driving at least 60 mph, twice the posted speed limit on the bridge.

Few hours after the wreck, the 31-year-old driver’s blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit, records show.

Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. “This is a serious accident resulting in a fatality.
