One person has died overall as a result of the crash. The crash occurred on Cooper City Road, a news release says. Troopers received reports that Toyota was driving erratically while heading east when it suddenly turned around and began driving west in the eastbound lanes.

While driving west in the eastbound passing lane, the Toyota crashed head-on into a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 39-year-old man of Broward County.

The Tahoe ended up on its right side in the center median, FHP troopers say.

A 39-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 12-year-old passenger was flown to a hospital with serious injuries.

Another 54-year-old and a 6-year-old girl were also hospitalized with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 44-year-old man had to be cut from his vehicle. He was also hospitalized with severe injuries, FHP says.

The investigation into the crash continues but the Florida Highway Patrol says alcohol is believed to be a factor.
