42-Year-Old Fort Lauderdale Man And FHP Trooper Both Injured In Car Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol and the Palm Beach Sheriff Office released a statement on a violent crash that occurred when a driver slammed into the back of a trooper’s vehicle.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said, the wreck happened along Interstate 95 southbound in Palm Beach County. The rear camera of the trooper’s vehicle captured the moment it all happened.

A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper was stopped on the side of the road with his emergency lights on behind a disabled driver.

A short time later, a 2012 Mazda, driven by a 42-year-old man of Fort Lauderdale, was headed southbound on Interstate 95.

Florida Highway Patrol said, to avoid slowing traffic, the 42-year-old Fort Lauderdale man swerved his vehicle onto the shoulder, struck a guardrail and careened into the back of the Florida Highway Patrol trooper’s vehicle.

The 42-year-old Fort Lauderdale driver sustained a serious injury and the Florida Highway Patrol trooper suffered an injury described as “non-incapacitating.”

The violent wreck caused a large fire.

The Florida Highway Patrol released the statement encouraging all those who may have witnessed the crash to contact the FHP Department.
