45-Year-Old Driver Arrested For Crash That Killed Two

The driver of the car that overturned and killed two passengers on Interstate 95 in Boynton Beach has been arrested.

A 45-year-old man of West Palm Beach faces charges of vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license, according to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report.

His Ford Explorer overturned several times on the highway near the Gateway Boulevard exit after hitting a semi-trailer, killing two 23-year-old passengers of West Palm Beach.

Neither passengers was wearing seat belts. The passenger, who was in the back seat, was ejected from the car and was found about 10 feet away from the 45-year-old driver and the other passenger who were still in the car, FHP said in its report.

Both passengers were pronounced dead on the scene, and the 45-year-old driver was taken to Delray Medical Center in serious condition.

The truck driver did not sustain any injuries, FHP said, he was wearing a seat belt.

According to the report, officers who were assisting the driver on the scene smelled alcohol on him. Blood was drawn while he was in surgery to confirm his blood-alcohol level.
