7-year-old girl killed by SUV in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, FL – A 7-year-old girl was killed after being struck by an SUV while riding her bike in Pembroke Pines on Thursday, CBS Miami reports. 

The victim was in a crosswalk at the intersection of NW 136 Avenue and 10 Street when she was hit by a driver who ran a red light. She was rushed to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver, a 40-year-old man, had suffered a sudden medical emergency while driving that caused him to lose control. He was also hospitalized and is not suspected of impairment or negligence.
