A black 2007 Pontiac four-door vehicle was traveling north on Northwest Green River Parkway south of Jensen Beach Boulevard, the FHP said. Meanwhile, a man was riding a Trek bicycle north in the inside lane on the shoulder. The vehicle struck him. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after the arrival of paramedics.

The Pontiac was backed into a spot and had significant damage to its front end, said Christine Christophek, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. The damage was consistent with striking a bicyclist, she added. Deputies also found a trail of engine coolant at the scene, according to the report.

β€œIt’s the second fatal crash involving a bicyclist on the Treasure Coast in less than four days,” said Lt. Alvaro A. Feola, FHP spokesman. A witness gave deputies a description of the vehicle involved, according to a report from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Feola could provide no further information.

Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate crash. β€œThis is a serious accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle, which ultimately, resulted in the death of the bicyclist.
