All Northbound Lanes of Florida Turnpike Shut Down Because Of Tractor-Trailer Crash This Morning
Florida Highway Patrol is on the scene of a new accident on the Florida Turnpike near the State Road 70 exit.
Traffic is backed up for over 8 miles for those on the Florida Turnpike and it appears at this time it will be hours before the road is back open.
A semi-truck is jackknifed and completely across all northbound lanes. Tow trucks have arrived on the scene but it appears they are having difficultly deciding how to move the big rig off of the highway.
At this time southbound traffic is open but moving slowly. Please take I-95 or another route instead of the Florida Turnpike through St. Lucie County.
It is unclear how many injuries, and how severe they are but the story will be updated as more information is available.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Shuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “Cases involving accidents with commercial trucks are always subject to heightened scrutiny because of the additional regulations placed on drivers of those vehicles. Unfortunately in our practice, we have seen numerous instances where drivers blatantly violate these regulations, which results in catastrophic consequences”.
