Another fatal head-on collision along a remote section of State Road 60 has led to the Florida Highway Patrol cautioning motorists about passing in that area.
A head-on four-vehicle crash Friday night left three people dead along an unlit section of State Road 60, about 44 miles west of Vero Beach. At the time those involved in the crash have not been identified and what caused the accident is still under investigation. Florida Highway Patrol is working the crash scene of this terrible accident to see who was at fault but believe it could have been from cars trying to illegally pass other cars.
The highway is a direct route west to Tampa from Vero Beach and is used by trucks as well as cars.
The crash was along a two-lane section of S.R. 60 where there are open pastures on either side. The posted speed is 65 mph.
State Road 60 is closed in both directions at this time but is expected to open in the next 90 minutes.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Shuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck comments on this accident on State Road 60: “Sadly, we have seen our second horrific accident along this road in less than a week. Drivers must be vigilant not to foolishly try to pass vehicles into oncoming traffic to avoid these tragic consequences. If you’ve been injured in an accident, make sure you are properly represented by an experienced trial accident attorney.”
