Isaac and his sister were riding in the back seat of the car, police said. His 5-year-old sister sustained critical injuries and is at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Another injured passenger, an unidentified adult woman, is in critical condition at Lawnwood Medical Center.  She was extricated from the car by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue. Police have not revealed her relationship with the victims.

“This is a terrible tragedy for the family,” said Ed Cunningham, the spokesperson for the Fort Pierce Police Department.

“We don’t know why that happened. There is a stop sign at the intersection of the eastbound traffic. Skid marks are on the road yards from the stop sign. The car apparently went across Sunrise Boulevard, off the roadway, into the parked truck, said Cunningham.”
