Motorcyclist Dies In Delray Beach Crash
A motorcyclist was killed after slamming into a guardrail following a crash with a car, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened near Delray Beach between E Atlantic Avenue and S Swinton Avenue.
The man was riding a 2008 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle east on Atlantic Avenue toward the intersection of Swinton Avenue when he crashed into a vehicle traveling south on Swinton Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office. The motorcyclist braked too hard to avoid the crash. But he got smashed into the steel guardrail on the side of the intersection, causing him to get thrown off the bike.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. At this time, detectives believe that speeding and impairment may have contributed to the crash.
First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the accident happened and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
This route is partially closed due to the severity of the crash, causing traffic delays. Vehicles are encoureaged to stay away from this crash scene. It is best to avoid this route and use alternative routes such as 1st Street and 4th Avenue.
As the identity of the driver of the motorcycle is released, this story will be updated.
