Roger Gilde, 79, Dies In Rollover Crash in Delray Beach
A man identified as Roger Gilde, 79, of Greenacres died when his car veered off the roadway and crashed.
According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Gilde was heading south near 13900 State Rd. 7, west of Delray Beach when he veered off the road.
His 2014 Volkswagen Beetle rolled over on State Road 7, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say Mr. Gilde’s car repeatedly veered off the road before his Beetle rolled over by Pero Family Farms.
‘Gilde re-entered the southbound lane, but veered off the road for the second time and crashed. Gilde’s car rolled over severally before coming to a final rest on its roof,’ PBSO reported.
First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the crash happened. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared Gilde dead at the scene.
PBSO notified next of kin, and they told deputies Gilde, from Greenacres, had uncontrolled insulin dependent diabetes and a heart condition. The crash is still under investigation but it is believed that his medical condition could have been one of the reasons for the crash.
The best alternate routes would be to take Jog Road or The Florida Turnpike.
Delray Beach attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate accident with an injury: “This is an accident that appears to have been caused by a medical condition to the driver. We do not know additional information at this time. We hope for the families sake that the investigation into the crash reveals further information.
