Two toddlers were hospitalized after a crash on W Boynton Beach Blvd, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP reported a 2-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy were injured in a crash along with their mom.
The crash took place when a woman who was driving a Chevy Impala north on Interstate 95 exited. She crashed into a Ford Taurus over failure to yield right of way as she was pulling onto W Boynton Beach Blvd, troopers said.
The driver of the Taurus was not able to stop or avoid the accident, according to FHP spokeswoman.
Both children, who were secured in child seats during the crash, were sent to the trauma center at a hospital in Delray Beach, officials said. The mother of the toddlers who drove the Ford Taurus was also injured in the crash, police said.
First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the accident happened. The victims were transported to the Delray Medical Center for treatment.
Officers said the woman driving the Impala was cited for failure to yield. The crash is still being investigated, police said.
All lanes of the exit ramp exiting I-95 were closed after the crash to allow police to investigate the incident.
This route is partially closed due to the severity of the crash, causing traffic delays. It is best to exit I-95 via Hypoluxo Road in the north and Woolbright Road in the south.
Delray Beach Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate accident with injuries: “It is unfortunate any time there is an accident but it especially sad when children are involved. We hope for a speedy recovery. We hope that the driver of the Ford Taurus retains an experience trial lawyer to represent her and her family. If you have been injured in an accident, call my office for a free consultation to find out what are your rights”.
