Two people died in a motorcycle crash at 601 Dixie Highway, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened after the driver of the motorcycle lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle – a 2013 Chevrolet.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both the driver of the motorcycle and the passenger were found in critical conditions at the scene of the accident. They were rushed to the hospital but both were pronounced dead at arrival. The motorcycle was completely wrecked and the front part of the Chevrolet was structurally damaged.
The identities of both victims of the crash are unknown at the time of this report. Officials closed the north and southbound lanes of Dixie Highway while the investigation is underway. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
This route is temporarily closed, causing traffic delays. Vehicles on this route are pulling to the roadside to allow crews work. The delay of traffic on this route is due to the severity of the crash. Drivers should seek alternate routes.
