Motorcycle Rider Hurt In Crash on NW 2nd Ave In Boca Raton
Boca Raton police say a motorcyclist got seriously injured a traffic accident in Boca Raton.
The accident involved another vehicle and occurred in the 700 block of NW 2nd Avenue. Anthony Oswald, 34, was operating a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on NW 2nd Avenue when he collided with the rear of a Ford truck which was traveling in the same direction, according to police.
“The Ford truck stopped abruptly in the middle of the road after it suddenly became disabled. The motorcyclist didn’t realize this and couldn’t apply his brakes early enough or take a detour,” Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Alex George said.
The motorcyclist, Anthony Oswald, had traumatic injuries sustained from the crash. The man was ejected from his motorcycle and he landed on the ground, sustaining serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford truck was not injured. First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the crash happened. Paramedics transported the motorcyclist from the scene of the crash and took him to Boca Raton Regional Medical Center in Boca Raton, Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Alex George said.
NW 2nd Avenue was closed as investigators worked, George said. He expected the road to open after 4 hours. It is best to take I-95, US One or North Dixie Highway to avoid the traffic delays.
Attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded about the crash. “It is tragic when anyone is injured in an accident. We hope everyone can learn all of the facts as quickly learned. It appears that the driver of the truck that was disabled was a factor in the crash.
