An attempt at fleeing traffic stop has led to a two-car crash on Hypoluxo Road.
The crash happened after a woman a black Pontiac Bonneville fled during a traffic stop, causing her to crash into another car, Boynton Beach police said. The scene of the crash was along Hypoluxo Road near Interstate 95, according to police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.
“A black Pontiac Bonneville was traveling westbound on Boynton Beach Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The car got onto northbound I-95 and refused to pull over for a traffic stop,” she said. Police followed the car to the off-ramp and Hypoluxo Road where the pursuit stopped, Slater said. After which, the Pontiac crashed into a Toyota.
First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the crash happened. Both drivers were transported to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries though not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Pontiac has been identified as a 28-year-old woman from Boynton Beach. Authorities are yet to release her names because of ongoing investigations.
The 28-year-old Pontiac driver of Boynton Beach was arrested and charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding and driving with a suspended license. The crash is being investigated by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The information about the driver of the Toyota that was crashed into has not been released at this time.
