According to the Boca Raton Fire Rescue spokesman Bob Lemons, the crash occurred on Lyons Rd., just north of Glades Rd. It involved a Ford SUV vehicle and Chrysler.
Palm Beach County Police Department said they received a distress call about a car that had rolled over in the area of Lyons Road north of Glades Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV was speeding and attempted to overtake the Chrysler leading to a fatal collision. The Chrysler rolled over, ejecting one of its occupants – a 20-year old woman.
According to authorities, four people were in the car at the time of the crash. One of the injured people was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert and the other two people suffered non-life threatening injuries, Boca Raton Fire Rescue spokesman Bob Lemons said.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police will not release her identity until next of kin have been notified. The others were rushed to the hospital but the extent of their injuries is unknown. Lemons said the collision reconstruction unit has been at the scene for several hours. He said speed is being considered a factor in the crash.
