Septuagenarian Dies In Cooper City Accident On S. Flamingo Road

The driver of a gold-colored sedan died in a two-vehicle crash at South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road in Cooper City, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said.

A man believed to be in his 70s died after a truck-trailer crashed into his sedan in Cooper City, a Broward County official said.  The impact of the crash caused the gold-colored sedan car to crash into a nearby palm tree near the intersection of South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road, said Michael Kane, battalion chief of Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue. The man’s name was not released.

First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the crash happened. The senior citizen was transported to a nearby regional hospital.  At the hospital he was confirmed dead on arrival, according to the crash report.  The driver of the truck was not injured.

The cause of the crash will be investigated by Broward Sheriff’s deputies, Kane said.  The crash shut down South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road in Cooper city, causing traffic delays. Vehicles are seen pulling into nearby Walmart Supercenter’s and Sunoco Gas Station’s parking lots. Others are pulling into side streets. It is best to completely avoid this route and make use of alternative routes.

Accident attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this unfortunate with one death:   “This is serious accident with injuries in Cooper City.  We hope for everyone’s sake that it can be quickly discovered what the cause was.  It has been indicated that the driver lost control of the car.  Please be careful and obey the speed limits whenever you are driving a motorcycle, car, SUV or truck.
