The driver of a gold-colored sedan died in a two-vehicle crash at South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road in Cooper City, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said.
A man believed to be in his 70s died after a truck-trailer crashed into his sedan in Cooper City, a Broward County official said. The impact of the crash caused the gold-colored sedan car to crash into a nearby palm tree near the intersection of South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road, said Michael Kane, battalion chief of Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue. The man’s name was not released.
First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the crash happened. The senior citizen was transported to a nearby regional hospital. At the hospital he was confirmed dead on arrival, according to the crash report. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The cause of the crash will be investigated by Broward Sheriff’s deputies, Kane said. The crash shut down South Flamingo Road and Griffin Road in Cooper city, causing traffic delays. Vehicles are seen pulling into nearby Walmart Supercenter’s and Sunoco Gas Station’s parking lots. Others are pulling into side streets. It is best to completely avoid this route and make use of alternative routes.
