Two people killed in a three-vehicle crash that shut down 10th Avenue in Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
PBSO said a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on 10th Avenue from Military Trail in the inside travel lane. A Mazda car was traveling eastbound on 10th Avenue North from Haverhill Road with a 2017 freight box truck traveling behind it.
PBSO said the Chevrolet truck was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve to the right and crossed into the Mazda’s lane of travel. The front of the Chevrolet violently crashed head-on into the front of the Mazda, causing it to rotate in a clockwise rotation.
The freight truck attempted to avoid the crash and veered to the left but struck the rear passenger area of the Mazda. The Chevrolet and freight truck came to a final rest with the Mazda wedged in between them.
The driver of the Chevy 2500, a 33-year-old Greenacres man died in the crash. The driver of the Mazda, a 49-year-old Lake Worth man was also killed in the wreck.
Traffic is closed on 10th Avenue North between Haverhill Road and South Military Trail, near John I. Leonard High School. The sheriff’s office said two cars and a truck were involved in the crash. Officials have said two people were injured in the crash. The cause of the crash is unknown.
