A man suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Vero Beach, according to deputies.
The accident happened at the intersection of 43rd Avenue and 26th Street. It involved a car and a motorcycle, Indian River County Deputy Corporal Michael Dilks stated. The crash site was located west of the Vero Beach Regional Airport and north of Historic Dodgertown, a multi-sport facility.
According to Dilks, a woman was traveling in a car northbound on 43rd Avenue. She then ran the red light at 26th Street. She was struck by a man traveling westbound on a motorcycle.
First emergency responders arrived shortly after the accident. The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce. Though his injuries were serious, they’re non-life threatening and he’s expected to recover, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) spokesman Mark Wysocky said.
There were three children in the car with the woman at the time of the crash. No one suffered any serious injuries.
The accident snarled traffic for hours. Both northbound and southbound traffic on 43rd Avenue was diverted west on 26th Street for about an hour, deputy Sgt. Paul Mewborn said.
South Florida personal injury attorney Jason Weisser of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to this accident. “This was a major crash in Vero Beach.
