Harry Faber Killed, 2 Others Injured in Four-Car Crash on I-95 in Melbourne

Harry Faber, 81, of Palm Beach Gardens was killed and his wife seriously hurt in a four-car crash in Melbourne.

The fatal crash happened on the northbound side of I-95 near Micco Road in southern Brevard County. The location is about 80 miles north of West Palm Beach, according to the crash report.

According to the FHP, Harry Faber and his wife, Claudette Faber, were traveling in a 1999 Chrysler 300 heading to their second home in Toronto when the incident occurred. The couple had stopped their vehicle on I-95 when a distracted motorist driving a 2008 Kia Sportage failed to slow down and rear-ended their vehicle.

The impact of the accident caused the Chrysler to crash into the rear of a 2012 Honda CRV driven by 72-year-old Marco Fraticelli of the Montreal suburb of Pointe Claire, Quebec. The CRV was then pushed into a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander operated by 44-year-old Han Bing of suburban Boca Raton.

Faber and his wife were both taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. Harry died shortly after his arrival to the hospital. Claudette was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The driver of the Kia suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  He was transported to Palm Bay Hospital for treatment, an FHP report said. Two small children in her car were unhurt, as were motorists in the two other cars, one of whom was a suburban Boca Raton man. No other injuries were reported in the accident.

“The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending,” FHP Lt. Kim Montes said.
