A man identified as Donald Biesemeyer, 92, from Okeechobee was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Okeechobee. The collision happened on State Road 78, according to troopers.
According to the accident report, 92-year-old Donald Biesemeyer was traveling west on State Road 78 in his 2003 GMC S15 pickup truck prior to the crash. Behind him was a 2008 semi. Biesemeyer traveled onto the north grass shoulder and attempted to make a U-turn. The driver of the semi which was traveling behind him swerved left to avoid a collision with Biesemeyer’s vehicle but the vehicles collided.
The front of the semi struck the GMC at the driver’s side killing David Biesemeyer immediately. The semi driver suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.
Donald Biesemeyer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by paramedics. State Road 78 was closed for several hours, according to the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office. FHP crash investigator Trooper J. Andrade and FHP homicide investigator Trooper Corporal D. Roberts Jr. are investigating the crash.
