Two people are dead after a semi-truck and two other vehicles collided on I-95 in Vero Beach.
First emergency responders arrived shortly after the Vero Beach accident happened and the victims were transported to the hospital in critical conditions.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to Longwood Regional Hospital, where they died from their injuries. A third person was transported to Vero Beach Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“There was no word on what caused the crash, however, all southbound lanes on I-95 near MM148 is shut down as crews work to remove the overturned semi-truck from the roadway,” FHP spokeswoman said.
Traffic was shut down on the southbound lanes of I-95 for several hours. Vehicles on this route are pulling to the roadside to allow crews work. The delay of traffic on this route is due to the severity of the crash. Traffic is being diverted at Fellsmere Road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
