Driver Involved In Port St. Lucie Crash That Killed Michael Hauser James Turns Himself In
A 60-year-old Port St. Lucie motorcyclist was killed in a I-95 Northbound crash in Palm City, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The wreck happened on northbound Interstate 95 near mile marker 106, killing Michael Hauser James of Port St. Lucie.
Officials said the motorcyclist, Michael Hauser James, 60, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., was struck and killed by a vehicle. The vehicle is described as a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Nissan, with front-end damage. The vehicle driver initially fled northbound on I-95 but was later arrested by the police.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver turned himself in after the fatal Interstate 95 crash that killed the 60-year-old motorcyclist in Martin County.
FHP said the driver turned himself into the Daytona Beach Shores Police Department in connection with the deadly wreck. Florida Highway Patrol investigators traveled to Daytona Beach Shores to interview him and they transported him back to Martin County where he was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.
He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and tampering with Evidence. Florida Highway Patrol said the vehicle was recovered from behind a vacant building in Daytona Beach Shores.
