A semi crash across Interstate 95 in Palm Beach Gardens left two hospitalized and slowed the commute for many drivers.
The wreck occurred in the southbound lanes near Northlake Boulevard, according to the police spokeswoman.
The crash happened after a woman allegedly fled during a traffic stop and crashed into another car, police said.
Earlier, officers saw a silver Pontiac Bonneville The car got onto I-95 and refused to pull over for a traffic stop. Police followed the car to the off-ramp and Northlake Boulevard where the pursuit stopped, official said.
Subsequently, the Bonneville crashed with a semi and the drivers of both vehicles were taken to a medical center with injuries that were serious but not considered life-threatening. The Bonneville driver, a 28-year-old woman from Boynton Beach was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license.
There was a lot of debris on the road related to the wreck. Because of the debris, some southbound lanes had to be closed during the cleanup. There was heavy damage to the front of the semi truck.
The Florida Highway Patrol and clean-up crews were at the scene to clean up the mess. The crash is being investigated by the FHP.
