Middle Aged Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident On U.S. 1
A middle aged man from Stuart sustained life threatening injuries in a collision with a truck along U.S. 1, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident took place just south of Indian Street, FHP spokesperson said in a news release.
The collision occurred when a motorcycle, which was northbound along U.S. 1, was side swiped by a Ford truck in an attempt to pass it. The motorcycle rider was thrown off to the east shoulder of the road on impact, sustaining critical injuries in the process.
Paramedics at the scene of the accident made efforts to save the middle aged male rider. This was all to no avail, as he succumbed to his injuries within minutes of their arrival and died of internal complications.
The driver of the Ford truck also suffered minor injuries and was treated by the paramedics on the scene.
Two northbound lanes were littered with debris and were closed for about 30 minutes by the Florida Highway Patrol,
Authorities are still conducting their investigation into the crash.
Motorcycle riders are advised to be vigilant while riding on major roads to avoid similar occurrences and minimize risk to life.
