The accident which left three vehicles badly damaged occurred on North Congress Avenue,  claiming the life of a woman in her mid twenties.

Florida Highway Patrol officers were on scene and two lanes of the road were closed for investigations by traffic homicide detectives.

According to authorities, the driver of a Toyota minivan was on the southbound lane when she made a sudden U-turn into the northbound lane. This led to a partial collision with a Volkswagen hatchback which was on the northbound lane as it was sent skidding to the east shoulder of the road.

A black Volvo sedan, which was also traveling on the northbound road, was caught off guard by the skidding Volkswagen hatchback causing it to sideswipe that Volkswagen into a ditch.

The female driver of the Volvo sedan was killed on impact, while the driver of the Toyota minivan suffered serious injuries and is said to be in a stable condition. The occupants of the Volkswagen hatchback were not hurt in the crash.

Paramedics were on the scene and Emergency First Responders spent hours clearing the wreckage due to the extensive damage and debris.
