Pregnant Mother Sustains Serious Injuries in Head On Collision

A pregnant mother sustained serious injuries in a head on collision at the intersection between Sansburys Way and Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach.

According to authorities, the accident occurred when a pregnant mother who was driving a Ford Focus on the southbound lane of Sansburys Way attempted to make a turn into the eastbound lane of Southern Boulevard.

Concurrently, a Kia Sportage SUV was making a turn into Sansburys Way from Southern Boulevard. This led to a head on collision at the intersection which left both vehicles badly damaged.

A passenger in the back seat of the Ford Focus sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Kia SUV was badly injured and was taken to the hospital.

Firefighters worked tirelessly to free the pregnant mother from the wreckage after which she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

It is still not confirmed if the injuries sustained affected the unborn baby. More information will be given when it is known.

The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities closed a single lane on Sansburys Way due to the wreckage.
