Rollover Crash Causes Gridlock On Route I-98 and Southern Boulevard

A truck was involved in a rollover crash which crossed two lanes on Route I-98 and Southern Boulevard.

A truck which was transporting tons of gravel on US route I-98 and lost control and rolled on its side spilling its contents and blocking two lanes on the eastbound carriageway. Meanwhile, a blue Toyota Tundra which was eastbound on route I-98 was caught off guard and ran into the back of the truck.

Authorities say the driver of the Toyota Tundra was unable to apply his brakes early enough to avoid a collision with the downed truck.

The driver of the truck sustained minor non life threatening injuries in the crash. One passenger in the Toyota Tundra also sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Toyota Tundra was injured critically and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Two lanes were completely blocked for hours as emergency first responders were hard at work clearing the debris.

There is presently no information on the extent of injuries sustained or the identities of the parties involved.

According to the police spokesperson, the Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Drivers are advised to be on high alert when tailing heavy duty vehicles.
