A group of teenagers in a Ford Edge were involved in a deadly car crash along North Quadrille Boulevard in West Palm Beach.
The 19 year old male driver of the vehicle was critically injured in the car crash and is in a stable condition, while a 17 year old girl who was a backseat passenger sustained minor injuries and is also stable. The front seat passenger was a 17 year old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Police say the driver of the vehicle drove right into a parked truck along North Quadrille Boulevard. The truck was believed to have been parked for repairs due to an engine fault, but it is not yet clear if the right measures were taken to warn incoming vehicles of the truck’s presence.
The group of teenagers were said to be driving back from a rave when their vehicle ran into the stationary truck that was close to a dangerous bend.
According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of the Ford complained about a faulty headlamp earlier in their journey, but the head lamp seemed to function properly afterwards.
Emergency First Responders were at the scene of the accident within minutes, they were able to evacuate the survivors for transport to the nearest hospital, however, there was nothing they could do for the passenger.
The Florida Highway Patrol are conducting a full investigation into the crash.
