Two people were sent to the hospital in a fatal crash at the intersection between South-East Monterey Road and State Road 74 in Stuart.
A Stuart man who was driving a Chevrolet Malibu was critically injured after he drove his car into an oncoming vehicle at an intersection.
According to police reports, the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was on the westbound lane of South-East Monterey Road when he refused to slow down as he approached the intersection.
He made a turn from the left turn lane of the South-East Monterey Road and ran into a Hyundai Elantra which was approaching from the northbound lane of State Road 74. The two cars collided at the intersection, leaving both vehicles seriously damaged.
The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was treated of minor injuries on the scene. The woman beside him, who was a front seat passenger, was critically injured and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu also sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a different hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
