According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at the intersection of Boutwell Road and Highway 802 in Lake Worth.  The 53 year old man was driving a Volvo Sedan along the westbound lane of State Highway 802 when a Ford truck approaching from the southbound lane of Boutwell Road crashed into his car.

The truck impacted the car on right side causing the Volvo to rollover until it came to rest on the right shoulder of the eastbound highway 802. The Ford truck was slightly damaged and the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries from the crash.

The Volvo was resting on its top when emergency services arrived. Firemen battled to evacuate the 53 year old man from the twisted frame of the vehicle for over an hour. He was finally transferred into an ambulance and taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Medical reports say the 53 year old man sustained multiple fractures but is in stable condition. According to eyewitnesses, the man was lucky to be alive in spite of the extensive damage to his vehicle.

No charges have been filed and the case remains under investigation.
