A man was hospitalized in West Palm Beach after sustaining multiple injuries in a motorcycle crash on US Route 1.
In an unusual vehicle crash, a man riding a motorcycle was involved in a collision with a surf board along US Route 1. The surfboard was said to have fallen off the roof of a car that was directly in front of him.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the surfboard which was fastened to a latch on the roof of a Toyota Corolla hatchback got loose from its harness and fell backwards. The surfboard fell into the path of the motorcycle rider who was a few paces behind the Corolla. He collided with board and lost traction, falling head first unto the asphalt.
Eyewitness reports say the rider lost consciousness but he was revived before the paramedics arrived on the scene. He was said to have sustained severe head trauma from the impact of the crash and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
There was no other casualties in the crash. No charges have been filed yet but the Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
