According to the FHP, a red Chevrolet Corvette was involved in a rear end collision with a tractor trailer that killed the passenger in the front seat of the car.
The Corvette was believed to be speeding in the northbound lane when it ran into the rear of a tractor trailer that was trying to make a turn onto the road. The Corvette was badly damaged in the high impact collision.
Emergency responders said the passenger in the front seat of the Corvette sustained critical injuries and died at the scene of the crash. He was a 26 year old graduate student who was visiting Palm City. His friend, the 25 year old male driver of the Corvette, was also injured in the crash and transported to the hospital.
