A man from Miami died in a fatal crash at the intersection of Davie Boulevard and Southeast 3rd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
According to authorities, the crash occurred when a Ford Edge, which was traveling on the eastbound lane of Davie Boulevard, ignored the stop sign at the intersection of Southeast 3rd Avenue. The driver drove right into the intersection and crashed into the side of a Hyundai Accent which was traveling south from Southeast 3rd Avenue.
The impact caused the Hyundai to overturn until it came to rest southeast of the intersection. An eyewitness account says the driver of the Hyundai Accent was trapped in the car by his seat belt.
The driver of the Hyundai was rushed to the hospital due to the severity of the injuries he sustained. A passenger in the Hyundai Accent was also taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the Ford Edge was rushed to the hospital but died a few hours later.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
