A woman sustained multiple injuries in a single car crash on Haverhill Road in West Palm Beach.
According to the Florida Highway patrol, the woman was said to be driving a Toyota Lexus Sedan along Haverhill Road with her husband and son in the car when she saw a stray cat crossing the road. She swerved to avoid the cat and lost control of the car.
The car drifted off the road and crashed into a fence a few feet from the road. The hood of the car was severely damaged from the point of impact with the fence.
Her husband was in the front seat with her when the accident occurred. He sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the hospital when emergency services arrived.
The backseat passenger, their 7 year old son, sustained some minor injuries and was treated at the scene. His mother however was not so lucky as she sustained multiple fractures to her ribs and neck. She was airlifted to the hospital and is in a critical condition at the moment.
Drivers are advised to be careful when driving in animal prone areas.
