Driver Strays Into Opposite Lane While Receiving Call On South Olive Avenue

A man was involved in a head on collision with an oncoming vehicle while trying to receive a call on South Olive Avenue in West Palm Beach.

Emergency services were on the scene after a crash involving two vehicles along South Olive Avenue. A major section of the road was shut down after the crash as emergency services worked to clear the wreckage.

According to a spokesperson for the Florida Highway patrol, the driver of an Audi Sedan was on the southbound lane of South Olive Avenue when he lost concentration while receiving a call and strayed into the opposite lane.

The driver of a black Mazda Sedan was approaching from the northbound lane of the road when the Audi strayed into its lane. The two vehicles collided head on, leaving a pile of debris on the asphalt.

Two passengers in the Mazda were rushed to the hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the Mazda also had serious injuries. She suffered severe head trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the Audi suffered rib fractures among other injuries. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

It is not yet clear if charges will be filed, Police has not released any information to that effect.
