18 Year Old Sustains Multiple Fractures After Car Crash On Lenard Road
An 18 year old girl sustained multiple fractures while taking a walk along Lenard Road in Port St. Lucie.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a teenage girl was the victim of a car collision when a vehicle ran into her on the sidewalk along Lenard Road. The driver of a white Toyota Avensis sedan was speeding in the southbound lane of Lenard Road when he drove onto the sidewalk, narrowly missing some pedestrians before colliding with the 18 year old teenager.
The Avensis continued on its path after the collision until it crashed into street lamp close to the road. The 18 year old girl suffered multiple fractures from the crash and was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. An eyewitness claimed to have seen her screaming due to what he judged to be intense pain from her injuries.
Emergency first responders were on the scene to clear the wreckage and attend to the injured girl. The driver of the Avensis sustained minor injuries from the crash. Hhe was treated on the scene and later taken into custody by the police for questioning.
There is currently no information on what caused the driver of the Avensis to lose control. The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash.
Drivers are advised to be conscious of the speed limit when driving in pedestrian populated areas.
