Three people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a multiple vehicle crash on SW. Palm Beach Street in Indiantown.
Police officers could be seen at the location of the accident after an SUV ended up on a curb following a multiple vehicle crash. The crash, which occurred during the early morning rush hour, involved three vehicles.
A white Kia SUV was in the eastbound lane of the road when it collided with a Jeep Cherokee. The impact sent the Jeep Cherokee onto the sidewalk were it crashed into two pedestrians. The Kia SUV continued in its trajectory until it collided with a third car further down the street.
The Florida Highway Patrol closed down a section of the eastbound lane to conduct investigations into the crash. Emergency first responders were also on the scene to attend to the casualties and clear the wreckage.
Two pedestrians, a young man and an elderly woman, were severely injured in the crash. They sustained multiple fractures and had to be rushed to the nearest hospital. The driver of the Jeep suffered severe head trauma and was taken to the hospital for treatment. A front seat passenger in the Jeep also sustained some mild lacerations from the crash.
The driver of the Kia SUV had minor injuries and was treated on the scene. No one was hurt in the third vehicle.
A spokesman for the FHP said the driver of the Kia SUV has been taken into custody for questioning. It is believed that road rage was the major cause of the incident.
