Two teenagers were injured after their vehicle crashed into a traffic signal pole along Glades Road in Boca Raton.
Officers of the FHP were present on the scene after two teenagers sustained severe injuries in a collision with a traffic signal pole. Authorities say two cars were involved in the crash.
A black Jeep Cherokee and a Nissan Altima were speeding on the westbound lane of Glades Road. The driver of the Jeep ran into the back of the Nissan, causing him to swerve. The Nissan lost control and crashed into the pole at the intersection of Glades Road and US Route 441, while the Jeep drove away from the scene.
Both drivers were said to be in a drag race of some sort. Police are still investigating the whereabouts of the Jeep driver that left the scene of the accident.
The 18 year old driver of the Nissan sustained a head injury and had to be rushed to the hospital. He is in a stable condition at the moment. A front seat passenger in the Nissan, a 17 year old girl, was also injured in the crash and transported to the hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still conducting an investigation into the crash.
