According to officers of the Florida Highway Patrol, three people were hospitalized after a crash involving three vehicles along Southern Boulevard. The 45 year old driver of a blue Mazda 626 was traveling on the eastbound lane of Southern Boulevard when his car crossed the center line and collided with a Ford Fiesta on the westbound lane of the road.

The impact caused the Ford Fiesta to spin out of control and crash into a flatbed truck in the same lane. Emergency responders were on scene to attend to the casualties. The 45 year old driver of the Mazda was unconscious when they arrived. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

Two occupants of the Ford Fiesta were also injured in the crash and had to be rushed to the hospital for multiple injuries. The driver of the flatbed truck was not hurt in the crash.

The accident backed up traffic on the westbound lane of Southern Boulevard due to the wreckage.

A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol, said investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the crash.
