Front Seat Passenger Trapped In Vehicle After Car Crash In Stuart
A front seat passenger was trapped in a vehicle with severe injuries after a crash along Florida State Road A1A in Stuart.
Emergency services responded to a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Florida State Road A1A and Southeast Monterey Road. According to Police reports, the driver of a Ford Escape was traveling southbound on Florida State Road A1A when he ran a red light at the intersection. He was barely halfway through the intersection when he collided with a Kia Sorento. Both cars were badly damaged in the crash.
The driver of the Ford Escape sustained minor injuries in the crash, but his front seat passenger, a woman in her early thirties, was trapped in the wreck. An eyewitness said passersby were unsuccessful in their efforts at evacuating the trapped victim.
Firemen arrived on the scene and cut through the mangled wreck in order to free the woman. She was reportedly drifting in and out of consciousness due to the severity of her injuries. Paramedics attended to her on the scene and transported her to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Kia Sorento also sustained a neck injury in the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Florida Highway patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash.
No charges have been filed yet. More information will be provided when available.
