Three people sustained serious injuries in a wrong way crash along U.S. Highway 1 in Hobe Sound.
Emergency services worked to clear the wreckage following a crash along U.S. Highway 1 in Hobe Sound. According to Police reports, a white Nissan Altima was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 1 when it collided with a tractor trailer.
The Nissan was mangled beyond recognition as a result of the crash. Emergency crews worked to evacuate 34 year old male driver from the wrecked car, cutting through metal to get to him. After two hours, the driver was rescued from the wreck and transported to the hospital for multiple fractures. He is in a critical condition at the moment.
A second occupant of the Nissan, a 24 year old man, was said to have exited the vehicle mid-motion, shortly before impact. He sustained some bruises and a dislocated shoulder. Paramedics attended to him on the scene. He was later taken to the hospital for treatment.
The road was closed for about three hours before traffic was restored again.
